What does it mean when a 'Dog is on Heat'?
Heat, or Estrus is a stage in female dogs when they are more receptive to mating.
During heat periods, the vulva gets swollen and blood drops from the vulva.
There are three stages of heat
- Pro-Estrus
- Estrus
- An-Estrus
A dog comes on heat twice a year, though this varies depending on the individual dog and health conditions.
